We exhausted ourselves walking up and down Manhattan with every spare moment we had. It’s just so interesting there. Even when we had things planned, we would squeeze in a quick walk just before. On the docket for lunch one day, was to go to Maison Pickle. While none of us are staunch pickle fans, it was a suggestion from Solen’s producer on a show that wrapped just days before we flew to New York.
While Pauline was getting ready for our trip to Maison Pickle, Solen and I had a 20 minute chunk of time to go for a speed walk around the block. As we rounded a corner onto a scaffolded sidewalk, we spotted this pickle lighter sitting by its lonesome on a slab of granite — one of those built-in seats next to a building with a matching exterior. Perhaps nothing, perhaps a small nod from the universe that pickles is in some way, meant to be.
